She is a military wife and mother to two teenagers and two rescue dogs. Her husband is the greatest encourager in her life - especially when it comes to photography. She had great experiences while doing photography, but she paused after graduating with a Master’s degree in Human Resources. In 2020, her family started a new chapter with a move to Lafayette, Louisiana. Once settled, life circled back to photography.
Lisa Giandelone, local artist, enjoys both oil and acrylic paintings. Born in Lafayette, La and attended ULL. Worked in the oilfield for over 30 years.

At age 40 , I painted my first oil painting. Shortly thereafter I signed up for a six week course in Decorative Tole Painting at the beginning level…When I completed the course, the teacher said that I was “a natural” and asked me to teach the next class.
In the next 5 years, I taught adult classes and began a children’s art program for the Berwick Recreation Department..
I was a birder and wanted to paint realistic birds. The artists teaching birds were scattered thinly across the country.. I joined the Society of Decorative Artists in 1990 and began traveling far and wide to attend seminars and convention classes that would improve my skills. I painted with teachers from Canada, Louisiana, Ohio, Minnesota, Kansas, Arizona, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Arkansas, Florida, and Pennsylvania..
I even had the good fortune to paint a week under Bill Alexander, the German painter who taught Bob Ross to paint happy little trees .. I found a wonderful group of like minded ladies who hired a teacher to come to them in Udall, Kansas twice a year.. We became good friends and I painted with them for about 15 years..
I painted wall murals in private homes in Morgan City, Berwick, Houma, and Lafayette. I painted children’s character furniture for an interior decorator. Lafayette General Hospital has wall murals in the Pediatric ER that I painted as well as the Pediatric waiting rooms in the Burdon Riehl building across the glass walkway…
I promised myself 33 years ago that I would paint birds really well or not at all..
I am happy with the results and hope you are too !
